I got these to hopefully keep my cats from waking us up at 4am and to make it easier for future petsitters. I got the shorter length specifically because I was afraid of them being tipped over and the taller option seemed like hubris. While they are sturdy, cats can be clever and hungry little gremlins and it's not like it's screwed into the floor. One of my cats was a bit obsessed, trying to tip it, put his paw in through the dispense, etc. I used some weights on the side and that seemed to work, and after about 2-3 weeks he chilled out anyway and we don't need those any more. It's 3 months out now. We have them at four feedings a day (4:30am, 8am, 4:30pm, and 8pm). Not having to portion it out myself and deal with screaming kitties and to be able to feed them multiple times a day (since cats like to eat several small meals instead of one big one) has been awesome. I also appreciate the back-up battery power. I'm really pleased we got these; it has definitely made life smoother with the cats. I'd simply recommend that if you have a food-motivated or food-desperate cat (especially if it's a buff baby like my Sunny), plan to figure out how to set it up to be more tilt-proof at least in the beginning. If you feed them multiple times a day, they'll also be less likely to be angry with the food machine for withholding from them (in theory). It otherwise really didn't take long for them to understand to stop bothering us when they were hungry.
I came by this through YouTube recommendation. It is about a tablespoon + teaspoon = 1 portion. My cats get 4 total portions a day, 1 portion at each time slot.
These make my life so much easier. I can finally spend a night or two away from my pets and relax knowing they're being taken care of.
So far I like it. Service is good. Petlibro has been a good experience. Thank you
We have two very vocal cats they do not allow sleep when they decide they are hungry. This has been a game changer for quality of life, and I have gotten my ability to sleep in on weekends back!!!
